Straus French Limoges
Lewis Straus & Sons French Limoges, 1890-1920
Heavy gold sculpted rims, hand painted fish on a soft cream color painted background. There are six different fish on the twelve plates. Lewis Straus & Sons mark, which means they are professionally decorated, as was all their Limoges. The under glaze mark is of Charles Martin Limoges who is responsible for the lavish shape. These antique plates date from 1890-1920, likely earlier judging from the shape.
9 by 10 7/8 inches across the beautiful cartouche handles.
Condition: Excellent. 1 has a tiny rim chip and another has a sliver chip under the rim. Nether shows on the front. The fronts are absolutely beautiful and the gold has darkened with age to a beautiful patina appreciated by true antiquers.
